What Makes Kuyper Sports Summer Camps Different
Share
There’s no shortage of summer sports camps out there. As a parent, it can feel overwhelming deciding where to send your child—especially when you want more than just a place for them to burn energy.
You’re looking for something that not only helps them grow physically, but also builds their confidence, character, and sense of self.
That’s where Kuyper Sports comes in.
We’re not here to create the next elite athlete. We’re here to raise kind and healthy competitors—kids who know how to try hard, support others, and leave the game with their heads held high whether they win or lose.
Here’s how we’re redefining what a sports camp can be:
1. We Lead with Heart, Not Just Hustle
At Kuyper, effort matters—but so does empathy.
Our coaches are intentional about teaching kids how to handle frustration, encourage their teammates, and celebrate progress over perfection.
Kids won’t just leave camp with better skills. They’ll leave with a better understanding of themselves and others.
2. Confidence is the Goal
Your child doesn’t have to be “good” at a sport to be welcomed at Kuyper Sports.
In fact, many kids come to us feeling unsure or having this be their first experience with a sport. One of the best parts of camp is watching them discover what they can do when they’re simply encouraged to try.
I’ll never forget when our 6-year-old asked to play baseball, and we finally signed him up. But when we told him, his eyes filled with tears. “But I don’t know how to play,” he said. He thought he had to know everything before he even started.
We reassured him, “That’s why we signed you up—so you can learn.”
He showed up nervous to that first practice, but he tried—and one try turned into confidence that continues to grow. He’s now in his second season and wakes up hours before his game ready to go.
That’s what we want for every kid who experiences our camps-- the confidence that grows from just trying.
3. Healthy Competition Over Pressure to Win
We love good competition. But we believe it can be healthy, joyful, and character-building—not cutthroat.
At our camps, we teach kids to care about how they play more than just the scoreboard. That means we:
- Celebrate sportsmanship.
- Talk about effort and attitude.
- Model how to lose (and win) well.
- Help kids bounce back from mistakes.
This shift in perspective is life-changing for kids—and for parents, too.
4. We Support Parents, Not Just Kids
One of the most unique parts of Kuyper Sports is that we’re not only here for your child—we’re here for you.
We know how stressful it can be navigating competition through your child’s emotions, wins, and losses. That’s why we offer:
- Encouraging resources for parents (like this blog and more to come!).
- Conversations that normalize the hard moments.
- A community that believes in raising healthy humans first.
Our heart is to walk with families, not just fill a camp schedule.

5. It’s Fun—Because That’s What Summer Should Be
Let’s be honest—summer should be fun. At Kuyper Camps, we keep the energy high, playfulness going, and fun at the center of it all.
Yes, kids will learn and grow. But they’ll also make friends, play silly games, and walk away feeling like they belonged.
From team competitions to our infamous "crazy awards" (you'll have to be there to know what this is!), we’re building an environment where kids want to come back every day.
A Different Kind of Camp
Whether your child is shy or outgoing, new to sports or already passionate about them, there’s a place for them here.
And it might just be the experience that helps them grow into a more confident, kind, and resilient version of themselves.
